New
Acu-trac® Fuel Level and Level/Distance Sensor Introduced at
SAE 2000
The Controls
Division of SSI Technologies has introduced an ultrasonic Fuel Level
and Level/Distance Sensor.
SSI Technologies,
Inc. Introduces "Smart" Fuel Level
Sensor for Truck Industry
(Janesville,
WI, May 2, 2000) -- The Controls Division of SSI Technologies,
Inc., has introduced a unique "smart" fuel level sensor
for the heavy truck industry with J1708 digital serial interface
to provide real-time fuel status information remotely via the truck’s
existing satellite or cellular-based communications and tracking
system.
SSI's
Acu-trac® fuel monitoring sensor allows truck fleet operations
management the ability to better control fuel expenses from a central
planning and logistics location.
Benefits to fleet management include:
-
Simplification of mid-route changes or fuel reoptimizations
-
Remote access to truck average fuel quantity, average mpg and
tank size
-
Reduction in route optimization errors
-
Improvement in driver confidence in the fuel level status
The sensor also includes a zero to 100-ma open collector user-programmable
PWM gauge-drive output to support existing fuel gauges. Other outputs
include 4-20 mA and 0 – 10 Vdc outputs.
Acu-trac®
utilizes ultrasonic sound wave technology with no moving parts.
This improves reliability of the sensor within the harsh environment
of the diesel fuel tank compared with current electromechanical
fuel level sensors.
Special features include:
-
Programmable proportioning modes for cylindrical or rectangular
-
Zero to full-scale performance with no dead zones or false target
areas
-
Self test diagnostics
The Controls Division of SSI Technologies, Inc., is a leading supplier
of sensors to the automotive and heavy truck industry, having shipped
more than 80 million sensors since 1987.
