The Controls
Division of SSI Technologies has earned the Ford Q1 Preferred Supplier
Award.
(November 12, 1999, Janesville, Wis.) --
Mike Alizadeh, Manager of Supplier Technical Assistance at Ford,
presented the award to William R. Coon, General Manager and Chief
Operating Officer for the division, who represented the hundreds
of employees who produce antilock brake systems (ABS) wheel speed
sensors for Ford pick-up trucks. The presentation was part of an
employee recognition program held at the division's oeprations in
Janesville.
To qualify for the award, Line 2 Business Unit #1, which produces
the sensors, had to meet several minimum requirements:
On-time shipments for at least 12 months
No defects in every shipment for at least 12 months
Accurate and on-time electronic data accompanying each shipment
Signing on to Ford's direct link to reassess shipment needs on a
daily basis
The award is limited to Ford's best suppliers on a global basis.
"It is both an honor and pleasure to be involved in receiving
this prestigious award from the Ford Motor Company," Mr. Coon
said. "The key to successful implementation of quality systems
is having a team that follows these systems so that we truly practice
continuous improvements to reach 'Zero Defects.' I want to recognize
the people associated with this Ford sensor, and their support
staff,
for doing a great job."
SSI Technologies was among the charter recipients of the Q1 Preferred
Supplier Award in the early 1980s for components produced for Ford.
The company re-qualified in 1991, and the Controls Division won
its first award with Ford in 1993 for its work with mechanical engine
valves.
The Controls Division of SSI ships more than 10 million sensors
per year for use on Ford, General Motors and Chrysler vehicles.
The division also offers solid-state, absolute pressure sensors
and various control systems to automotive and industrial markets.
