Fluid-trac®
Liquid Level Sensors Interface to Instrument Panel or Instrument Cluster Applications
|
| |
Non-contact Fluid-trac®
Three Wire Liquid Level Sensor are ideal replacements for 33 to 240 ohm resistive float senders, reed-switch tube sensors, and capacitive tube senders when interfacing to either an instrument panel or an instrument cluster.
Traditional float senders consist of a float attached to an actuating arm with a variable resistor mounted at the end of the rod. The resistive float sender's wiper slides across a resistive strip that can wear out over time which may result in intermittent or even a complete loss of the signal to the liquid monitoring system. These devices tend to be inaccurate, showing empty even though there are gallons left in the tank and displaying full for extended periods after a fill up. Float senders also do not work well in irregular shaped fuel tanks or mobile tanks.

WHY CHOOSE A FLUIDTRAC FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL OR INTSTRUMENT CLUSTER INTERFACES?
|
- More accurate (1/8th inch distance) than resistive float senders, reed switch tube sensors and capacitive tube senders.
- The liquid level sensor is more robust and easier to install with no moving parts to wear out
- Not affected by corrosive fuel additives or low sulfur fuels
- Common mounting styles are either 1 3/16" machine threaded or the standard SAE 1810 5 bolt pattern
- Mounts on top of fuel tank in same opening as the resistive float sender
- Input options: 12V for automotive applications or 24 V for construction, industrial, marine applications
- Fully programmable output-ratiometric or non-ratiometric voltage
- Can be factory programmable to work with a 5 volt regulated microprocessor control module.
|
| |
- Can be factory programmed with "in range" values for error detection for use with tank volumetric levels
- Can be factory programmed to work with non-regulated input voltage microprocessor control modules
- Programmed with strapping table to take into account the unique shape of the fuel tank
- Digital filtering on the liquid level sensor eliminates errors due to liquid sloshing in mobile fuel tanks.
